The Website and MyHealthCheckUp software is powered by a software system licensed from Clinemetrica Inc (the "Cardiovascular Life Expectancy Model"). Collectively the Website, MyHealthCheckUp and the Cardiovascular Life Expectancy Model are known as "the System". Use of the System is provided on this Website by the McGill Cardiovascular Health Improvement Program, as a community service, and must be used only as specified in this Legal Disclaimer. The System is intended for general informational purposes only. It is not intended to replace or serve as professional medical advice. If you have any questions about the information or results presented, seek assistance from your health care professional.
In order to use this Web site you must be at least 18 years of age or the legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction if that age is greater than 18 years of age. Individuals who are under the age of 18 or the legal age to form a binding contract in their jurisdiction (“Minors”) are prohibited from using the Web site. The System is based on the Cardiovascular Life Expectancy Model, a Markov model that has been published in respected international medical journals (ref). A Markov model estimates the annual risk of developing cardiovascular disease based upon epidemiologic risk factor information data provided by users of the System. The System calculates the user's probability of developing coronary heart disease, stroke, or other cardiovascular complications over his/her remaining life expectancy. The System can also calculate any changes in a user's risk of developing cardiovascular complications if he/she modifies one or more risk factors, such as reducing blood pressure, blood lipid levels, or quitting smoking. Each analysis is customised for the user’s age and gender. The System is not intended to replace or serve as a clinician's judgment or to be predictive or useful for all individuals. While the System offers one approach to evaluating a medical condition, clinical conditions may vary significantly from user to user. Moreover, the clinical conditions outlined within the System may not match precisely with a user's condition. The System is not intended to provide the only appropriate analysis of a medical problem.
Clinemetrica Inc. owns the Cardiovascular Life Expectancy Model and Software System, and provides the Web site to the McGill Cardiovascular Health Improvement Program free of charge. The respective owners are protected by copyright, patent and trade secret laws and rights, retain all worldwide rights, title and interest in and to the System provided through this Web site (including, but not limited to, ownership of all copyrights, patent rights, trade secret rights, and other intellectual property rights therein), as well as all rights, titles, and interest in and to their trademarks, service marks, and trade names worldwide, including any goodwill associated therewith. The owners allow the System to be utilized solely for users' own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use, reproduction, distribution, display, performance or adaptation of the System or the information contained therein, requires prior written permission from the respective owner. Each owner's trade names or trademarks or service marks may not be used for any purposes.
Any reference in the System or this Web site to a specific commercial product, process, or service by trade name, trademark, or manufacturer, does not constitute or imply an endorsement or recommendation by Clinemetrica Inc. or the McGill Cardiovascular Health Improvement Program. The results or predictions expressed by the System may not be used for any advertising, promotional or product endorsement purposes whatsoever.
